The picture was taken at the 1974 US Nationals and I still have the official NHRA booklet which listed it as a root beer brown 1972 chevy pickup, but it does look like it says Datsun on the tailgate so who knows. They could have switched bodies from the time they registered the truck to the time they showed up at the track.
Funny, I was just talking to a friend of mine and recalling this Datsun pickup from the 70's and came across this picture. The owner lived in Kokomo, Indiana and ran at the Bunker Hill drag strip for years. It was Datsun pickup with a 426 blown hemi in it. No Chevy at all

All correct but the engine cid. my good friend John...It was an early Chrysler 354 hemi. Nearly identical to the 392.
